I recently celebrated my 30th birthday. Yeah, it's a milestone. And it was supposedly happy, right? Well, I don't want to ruin my positivity goal but I have no one else or nothing to tell this story to. I don't want to bother anyone to be my shock-absorber. And I certainly don't want them to look bad in this story, too. I care for them so much that I have to re-word how I tell this story. It's just I have to re-tell the story to let it out of my chest, and perhaps move on, as well.
So here it goes:
Two of my best friends PM-ed their birthday greeting to me. So I panicked! I thought they cannot write on my wall. Because my first thought was each greeting was supposedly on the wall, right? Oh maybe I was the only one thinking like this.
Anyway, I messaged them back: thank you and why only a message and not on the wall? I thought there was a privacy issue and I accidentally or FB edited my FB restricting some friends from writing on my FB wall. So I ask and explained why I asked. Both of them replied with laughs. Then my HS BF said she was surprised I replied that way. Maybe my choice of words offended her so I immediately said sorry. I said sorry and asked if she's angry. She said no but I felt the opposite. She explained that she was not mad but just surprised. She said she PM-ed to make the greeting intimate. To her, my message seemed I was disappointed with just a PM and was wanting for more; for a wall post instead.
So explained and sincerely apologized. I thought I made it clear that I just thought they cannot post to my FB wall because of some security settings. And their reply? All I got from both of them was a thumbs up. Yeah. That big blue finger. *sigh*
This reply got me worried even more. I don't want to ask anymore. I may not be prepared of the next replies. That's how I came up with the friendship over theme. It is really my fault. I should've chosen my words. Kinder and more sensitive words. Moreso, I should just say thank you and did not bother about the wall thing. I should've just turned off my Facebook.
Exxag? Well, just like them, I didn't expect them to think of me that way. I already explained why I said so but seems like it wasn't enough. I wasn't prepared that they thought I AM offensive. That I intended to be an FB wall-post-hungry or something because they know me well. They know I'm not into FB at all!
Facebook's our or just my only way of communication to them. And not to mention, it was my birthday. It should've been just a "simple" misunderstanding or misuse of words or something much easier than that. They KNOW me in the first place. Oh, that's just an outburst, sorry. Be more sensitive again.
I should let go, I know. Like my husband said, I already apologize so it should not be a bother anymore. But I am bothered. So bothered I blogged, right? I'm bothered because they are my treasured friends - my best friend! I'm bothered because it always happen to me.
Like in grade school, when I was in Grade 1 and 6, the whole class was against or hated me, especially the girls. And I don't know why. No one said why they were angry. It also happened when I was in second year high school. My "barkada" or gang was all angry at me again. I don't know why again. I think I made a comment or did something or acted the way they didn't like - but I until now, I don't know why it happened to me. Maybe I am the type of person that is better off without any friends. Maybe I am the type of person that should not so emphatic with friendship. Maybe I should act the way that would please them instead of just being me.
I don't like to be pretentious or please anyone. I just want friends. To laugh with, to tell stories with, to eat and drink with. A thought bubble is just inflating: my friendship with them changed when I got kids. Pin to that bubble.
I would like to forget and move on from this but I think I would have to delete my FB account first. But it might lead them to thinking of a greater misdeed I did. I don't want to think ill of other people. It's okay if they think bad of me, I could also prove them wrong.
Sigh. I guess it's true that "nothing really lasts for-ever, ever."

Longing
Yes. Once again I am longing to write but unfortunately I could no longer "accept stress" - accepting new job that is. I am already at my 30 weeks and I feel like stress is taking its toll. I'm still an ESL tutor and I am about to celebrate my 6th year. Yeah! I can't believe either! I had the patience and endurance to keep my status in the company solid.
But I am suddenly feeling...bored. I don't grow anymore, well, professionally speaking. I like talking to student, I enjoy teaching them, I like my circle of friends, but it ends there. I have no more training, no new experience, no new knowledge. So when one of my friends invited me to join their company as a CSR, I impulsively grabbed the opportunity. Too bad, I wasn't able to continue for a longer time but the experience motivated me to try having a different career path. Now, I am seeking jobs online as a CSR or VA or date encoder or transcriptionist/transcriber or even a writer just to take a breather from verbal communication.
I haven't found one yet and my husband advised me not to rush because there would always be an opportunity waiting for me. Also, I am about to pop the cork at the end of August. Hehe! But the impatient in me took control and I sent applications to tons of job ads I found most appealing or which I am most suitable. Hehe, sorry Gibo ^_^
For now, I will just wait for the new opportunity. It's never been about the salary, it's the experience and the growth it would bring to me - personally. I have been selfless to my current company and it's a high time for me to give that time for myself.
Wishing myself good luck and lots of patience with the disappointment and frustration that comes with it.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Adventures
I hate hate hate Halloween season because I am a certified chicken - terrified of horror movies, which is abundant during this season. But Halloween became my favorite only because I love dressing up and dressing up my children, too. So ever since my husband and I had our first child, we started attending Trick or Treats in different places.
Well, it's not very customary (I think for me or the whole Philippines) to do Trick or Treat-ing in my hometown so my husband introduced me to UPCo, where the tradition was long practiced.
I got so fidgety that I impulsively bought wings for my daughter. Haha! Just to be said she is wearing a costume, I paired the pink wings with a blue gown and a yellow headband butterfly antenna. Here's how she look like back in 2011 when we started the trick-or-treating:
The next year, I think I was a bit more restrained and tried to make her more color-coordinated, so, I re-used the pink wings and paired it with pink dress and pink shoes. This time adding "pizzazz" with a wand:
And anticipation of dressing up continues. So this time I got more "creative" or inspired because of watching too many cartoons or animated movies. I didn't get a chance to get a good picture of her, but we tried to copy Agnes of Despicable Me (red scrunchy, yellow shirt, white shoes):
Since the trick-or-treat event is a day before All Saint's Day, which families gather all the time, we had another dress up which is Vanellope von Schweets from Wrect-It Ralph (high bun, blue-green jacket, brown sprinkled skirt, blue-white striped leggings):
I forgot to take a picture of last year's trick-or-treat costume but it was Rapunzel from Tangled (pink sleeveless dress). I even made her a yarn-wig, which she totally digged (pat on the back moment). Because it was princess inspired and she kept on copying Elsa of Frozen (my old baby blue nightgown and white blanket) instead:
And for the latest, since we have an additional family member, they became Teen Titans: daughter's Raven and son's Robin:
Ahhh... This is the year/costumes I am most proud of. I made them myself (pat on the back again, harder!). I had Raven's cape sewn for me because it was too big to be by-hand (because I don't have a machine) but I wasn't happy with finished product. It costed me P200 because the seamstress said it was a "costume" but my daughter wasn't happy because it wasn't the same as Raven. So supermom came to the rescue - I edited the costume: put rings for her finger so she can do the pose, stick glued the hood to a broad headband so it stayed on place, and sewed all the accessories so she can feel the whole vibe. The black tights she's wearing was actually mine when I was in highschool Ha! I was that malnourished (or thin). The accessories were from cardboard so I can have her helping me to color them (because she adores coloring). Then the socks were long and puffy to imitate boots or looks like wearing boots instead of flat shoes. Viola!
Then here is the Robin costume which is a total DIY: Ordinary red shirt I sewed green sleeves and yellow logo in the middle. Logo was from a yellow fabric and designed with black Sharpie. Finishing off with ordinary green shorts. BOOM! Robin without the mask because he keeps on removing it so I gave it to my daughter instead and it worked even better.
So now...I am already conceptualizing the next year's costumes because my son's going to be two and I expect him to be as crazy as his sister, trying to copy exactly the same as on TV/movie. Also, I saw a toy store nearby which sells wigs. Score!!!! P200 for the shortest and goes up as the hair goes longer. But who cares! They have rainbow wigs!!!!
Hooray for costumes! Hooray for Halloween! Hooray for DIY!
NOTE: I chose photos which my children aren't too exposed but the costumes are.

Soccer Twitter Breaker is #ALDubEBTamangPanahon
Sports has been gaining media attention and
reaching pinnacle heights in “sensationalization” and now, even the social
media with the creation of Twitter. That’s why games like football of the Americans
and football of the Europeans had been registering Twitter record-breaking
feats, too, not to mention the actual sports achievements.
We can all commit to memory Super Bowl XLIX
episode in the US with 25.1 million tweets and the World Cup 2014 Finals
between Germany and Brazil with 35.6 million tweets. The latter one was more
intense since it was a shameful loss of host country Brazil to powerful Germany,
scoring 7 to nil.
Now, Twitter has once again broken with
another record but coming from a different arena of sports – the sports of
entertainment.
Saturday, October 24, streets were filled
with silence and homes were filled with titillating cheers. It was almost like
a Pacman fight! But the cheers were almost like “kilig” or filled with love
instead of support or encouragement. Instead of “Go Pacman go!” or “Manny
laban! Suntok pa! ‘Yun!” it was more “Ang ganda-ganda ni Maine!”, “Pogi mo
Alden”, “AlDub you!”, and “AlDub! AlDub! AlDub!” endlessly. Even some stores
were closed or turned the T.V. on for public viewing.
And still just like a Pacquiao’s super bout,
the true “battle” is in the arena – the Philippine Arena this time, that is. A
battalion of “AlDub Nation”, fans club of Alden and Yaya Dub, stormed to the 55,000-seater
Philippine Arena and filled it up up to the brim.
The complete cast of Eat Bulaga’s Kalye Serye
starred the “Tamang Panahon” charity concert for the benefit of
library-constructing project in several schools from Luzon to Visayas to
Mindanao. The sold-out benefit concert raised as much as 14 million pesos. This
is the Eat Bulaga’s way of giving-back to their fans who had been following
them ever since the show started in the 1970s.
The terrific trio lola’s of Yaya Dub, Lola
Nidora (Wally Bayola), Tinidora (Jose Manalo) and Tidora (Paolo Ballesteros)
brought laughter with their comical acts and the adorable couple apo’s Alden
Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza – the on-screen love-team known as AlDub
– brought the house down with hoity-toity production.
At the start, Pinoy Henyo Master Joey De
Leon, encouraged the audiences in and out of the “arena” to once again enlist a
new record-breaking Twitter record. So by the end of the show, De Leon’s
“Twitter Report” affirmed his encouragement – they made as much as 39 million
tweets in 24 hours.
According to reports, #ALDubEBTamangPanahon
exceeded #ALDubEBforLOVE. Hashtag AlDubEBforLOVE registered more than 36
million tweets, a reference to the longest-running noontime show’s 36 years on
air. AlDub Nation’s “official statisticians” (Twitter users @ineffable and
@pagkalagaan) reported that #ALDubEBTamangPanahon listed a total of 39,522,300
tweets by 12 am Sunday, with 1,646,763 average tweets per hour.
The sport of entertainment would continuously
give the audience happiness to relieve the sadness of life and hope that there
is still good I everyone’s hearts. “AlDub you!”

Mahindra’s playing-coach Manny Pacquiao debuted his first-ever field goal against Rain or Shine. Screengrab from Sports5 Youtube channel |
|
October 25, 2015 will be a special additional
entry to the history of Philippine basketball. It was the time playing coach
Manny Pacquiao, Mahindra Enforcers owner.
A shot that will go down in history.
On Sunday, Pinoy boxing champ and Mahindra
player-coach, Manny Pacquaio, scored his first-ever PBA field goal against Rain
or Shine. He was guarded by Chris Tiu when he
successfully scored a long two-pointer. Watch the video of Pacquaio making his shot
below.
Manny Pacquiao after scoring only a point via
a Free Throw in his rookie year last year finally made his first Field Goal in
the Mahindra Enforcers vs Rain or Shine game last night at the Big Dome.
On April 10, 2014, Columbian Autocar
Corporation, along with Manila North Tollways Corporation (NLEX Road Warriors)
and Ever Bilena Cosmetics, Inc. (Blackwater Elite) were approved by the PBA
Board of Governors to become expansion teams for the 2014–15 PBA season.Upon entry to the PBA, the three teams will select players from a dispersal
draft in July consisting of unprotected current PBA players and free agents. They will also get to pick rookies in the 2014 PBA draft in August. On June
9, 2014, the team held a press conference, announcing that boxer Manny Pacquiao
will coach their team in the 2014–15 season. After announcing his intentions
to join the draft, Pacquiao got picked 11th overall in the first round by the
KIA team, thus becoming a playing coach.
A naming contest was held to determine the
team's moniker or name. On August 24, 2014, hours after the 2014 PBA draft, Columbian
Autocar Corporation president Ginia Domingo announced that they will took the
moniker "Sorento", the name of their top-selling sports utility
vehicle in the Philippines and United States. Prior to obtaining its
official moniker, the team was dubbed as "The Kia Kamao" which is a
call back to Pacquiao's nickname "Pambansang Kamao".

Bahrain’s Sweet Revenge to Bitter Azkals
And fatigue took its toll.
The Philippine Azkals bowed down to the host
Bahrain after a 2-nil loss in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers Tuesday, October 13
at the Bahrain National Stadium.
A total of nine days of travel to Pyongyang
and Riffa, Azkals is expected to experience light-headedness and exhaustion.
But Bahrain targeted the backline and started
to elude the feeble-looking defenders. Bahrain let loose a breakaway goal but
Abdulla Yaser quickly fired a weak strike and made the first goal of the match
in favor of the host country.
Azkals Captain Younghusband came back with a
header that barely missed the goal right before the halftime break.
Second half was Bahrain’s time to shine even
more as Ismail Abdullatif capped a nice three-man action with a goal at the
53rd minute and subdued the Phil Younghusband-Martin Steuble strike-cross
team-up.
Bahrain’s second goal came at the 61st minute
when Sayeed Adnan gave a twirling free kick from the left flank. From then on
Azkals had difficulties to goal and ended the games with zero.
To make matters worse, Younghusband received
a yellow card after being tackled. He already incurred his first from the match
against Uzbekistan on September. Consequently, he might miss the next game with
Yemen on November 12.
Even though Bahrain tasted a sweet revenge,
the Philippine booters is still in front at third place in Group H with 2-1-2
win-draw-loss card for seven points. They still have to match-up against Yemen,
Uzbekistan and North Korea to continue with the qualifyers.
This win improved Bahrain’s record to 2-3-0
for six points but stayed at fourth seed.
The World Cup qualifying games allows only
the top four teams to automatically advance to the next round.
